Safety
We run small group food tours in seven cities, and the thing we care about most - after the food - is making sure you have a great time without a single avoidable problem. Here's how we do that.
Allergies & dietary restrictions
Food is the whole point, so this matters. When you book, tell us about every allergy, intolerance, and dietary preference in the guest on every ticket - not just the booker. We brief every guide and vendor before the tour starts.
We can comfortably accommodate gluten-free, vegetarian, pescatarian, halal, and kosher-style diets on most tours. Vegan and severe nut-allergy accommodations vary by city - some markets are simply nut-heavy environments. If we can't safely deliver the experience you paid for, we'll offer a full refund before you travel.
If you carry an epinephrine auto-injector, please bring it and let your guide know at check-in.
Food safety standards
Every vendor we work with is licensed by their local municipality and operates under their country's food safety regulations. We visit each partner in person before we add them to a route, and we re-inspect at least twice a year.
Our guides carry hand sanitizer, clean water, and a first-aid kit. If a stop ever looks off - a broken fridge, a suspicious smell, a vendor we don't recognize - the guide is trained and authorized to skip it and reroute to a backup. No questions, no arguments.
Walking, stairs & accessibility
Most tours cover 2–4 kilometers on foot over 2–4 hours, with frequent stops to eat. Some routes include cobblestones, steps, or steep alleys - the details are on each tour's page under "What to expect."
If you use a wheelchair or have a mobility limitation, email us before booking and we'll tell you honestly which routes work and which don't. For some cities, we can arrange a modified private version.
Children & families
Kids 10+ are welcome on all public tours when accompanied by a paying adult. Children under 10 are free but require a ticket so we can brief the guide and plan portions. Tours run late in some cities - check the start time before bringing very young children.
Alcohol
Several tours include wine, beer, or local spirits as part of a paired course. Drinking is always optional - tell your guide and they'll swap in a non-alcoholic alternative. You must be of legal drinking age in the tour's country to consume alcohol on the tour. Guides will ask for ID if there's any doubt.
Insurance & liability
WOW Foodies carries professional liability insurance in every country we operate in. This covers guide-led activities during the stated tour hours.
We strongly recommend you travel with your own travel insurance that covers medical emergencies abroad. Our insurance does not replace personal travel insurance, and it does not cover pre-existing conditions, personal belongings, or activities outside the booked tour.
Emergencies
Every tour starts with a 60-second safety briefing: meeting point if the group gets separated, the guide's mobile number, the nearest hospital, and the local emergency services number. If something happens, stop, tell your guide, and we handle it.
For situations that can't wait for your guide: dial 112 anywhere in the EU, 911 in the US. Share your location with the WOW Foodies WhatsApp line and we'll coordinate.
Respect on the tour
Our guides, vendors, and fellow guests deserve a friendly environment. Harassment, racism, or repeated disruptive behavior will result in removal from the tour without refund.
Please arrive sober enough to enjoy the food. Guides can decline to serve or seat anyone who appears intoxicated or unwell, at their sole discretion.
